Paying attention to the stickers on your fruits and vegetables will help you distinguish between harmful and healthful produce.

I don’t know about you but I didn’t know what those numbers meant on the stickers pasted on fruits and vegetables at the supermarket. Believe it or not, they let you know if the product has been treated with chemicals and pesticides, whether they are GMO or whether they are organic.

That is very enlightening and from now on I will pay much more attention to these numbers. I do not want to eat things that have been treated with chemicals, nor do I want anything to do with GMO foods.

It is a true shame what the large agricultural companies are doing to our food supply and we need to stand up to this abuse by purchasing from local farmers markets and buying more organic foods when they are offered in the store.

The 6 hacks are: invest in a pair of large sunglasses, spend time with your friends, stay active with exercise, eat foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids, keep your diet colorful, change your beliefs of old.

Okay, these are the details I told you I would give you before.

Invest in a pair of large sunglasses…The larger glasses safeguard more of the delicate thin skin around your eyes where we first get wrinkles. They will also prevent you from squinting as much, therefore, decreasing both wrinkles around your eyes but also your forehead.

Make some quality time with friends… Very often we find that our hectic schedules cause us to neglect our social life. Having a social life, however, may contribute lots of ways to better aging. Research shows that our being stressed can cause damage to skin cells, leading to premature lines in your face. One of the benefits of spending time with friends is it helps us lower our stress threshold. Your immune system can also be compromised by increased stress, increasing your chances of illness. Not good amigo!

Get Some Movement in Your Day… It’s quite well established that as you get older your metabolism gets slower. If you will find about 30 minutes each day for some vigorous action, you can increase your metabolism and also help increase the density of your bones, thus decreasing the potential for bone injuries as you age. Doing some simple resistance exercises and going on a fast-paced hike around the neighborhood are a couple of great ways to retard that old aging mechanism. Make yourself a plan for that right now and you’ll notice changes rapidly!

Consume more foods that have been proven to provide high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids… Ohio State University stated in a research study that by increasing these types of foods into your diet, you can see positive results with your joints, increased hair growth, better eyesight, more supple skin, and improvement to your immune and cardiac functions. Some of the foods to look at would be different types of seeds such as pumpkin, chia, flax, and sunflower. Also try some nuts, sardines, and other fatty fish such as salmon. Fish oil supplements can also be a choice but make sure you look for a product with a quality reputation since they can vary in quality immensely.

Eat Natural Foods with Lots of Color… Many of the foods found at your local supermarket are known to speed up aging. It’s too bad but lots of people don’t know that there are also many foods that have the opposite effect. Fruits and vegetables such as broccoli, kale, oranges, plums, strawberries, and blueberries to name a few. They are all full of antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins that are great for contributing to healthy aging. Some of the nutrients you will find in these foods are carotenoids (like these: vitamin A, B-carotene, retinol, astaxanthin, and lycopene), and alpha lipoic acid. You will also find polyphenols, glutathione, CoQ10 and vitamins such as D, E, and C.

Change your concept of what old means… Depending on the context, the word old can have many different meanings. Stay positive about yourself and don’t knock yourself down dwelling on what people have defined as “senior moments”. Also don’t get upset that you can’t necessarily do everything the way you used to. Some of that is simply a reality of life. However, you can think positively about what you can do and there are ways to reverse some of the things you may see as negative. Only you can decide that for yourself and take the actions that will help you age gracefully and even slow the process down considerably. After all, isn’t age really just a number?

The majority of them are quite simple, not painful at all, and are quite reasonably inexpensive. That’s nice to know, but where do I find these methods to solve my problems?
